Works with no cable, no setup
Ambient signal sensing, the signal map, the watch face, push-to-talk, mesh chat, the forecast and the tool deck all run on the handset alone.
Needs the bridge
Only the deeper device-level tools need the phone bridge agent running. The bridge is the least reliable part of the system by nature, which is why nothing essential depends on it.
When the bridge will not connect
Install and start the agent from the published setup command, then check its health endpoint. If health passes and the app still will not connect, that is the secure published site refusing an insecure local connection — the setup output prints the two supported ways round it.
