Subterranean Bioreactor Matrix — Zero-Power Root-Zone Heating

KNF fermentation vessels buried in the Hügelkultur core as a zero-power heating jacket, with a 900 sq ft thermal boundary and a foil-side-down infrared seal.

The thermal engine

Exothermic decomposition — including late-season mycelial fruiting — inside the buried vessels sustains microbial activity past the ambient freeze point of the 1,300 ft plateau and raises the baseline root-zone temperature along the canopy window.

The seal

Foil-side-down albedo tarping over the buried containers traps ascending soil radiation in the root and vessel zone instead of letting it radiate to the night sky.
